Congratulations Colorado! As reported in today’s Denver Business Journal (Denver Morning Call), Colorado is home to nine of the 2012 Fortune 500 Companies. Here’s the link to see the list, Colorado’s Fortune 500.
Upon a recommendation from my friend John Leonetti, www.pinnacleequitysolutions.com, I started following Rob Slee through his weekly Midas Moments. This week’s Midas Moment quoted a Warren Buffet proposition to end the deficit. Buffet said, “”I could end the deficit in 5 minutes. You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.” Unfortunately, Rob points out no candidates running for office have endorsed or even discussed such a law.
I have found Rob’s writing to be thought provoking and would suggest private business owners check out his site, www.midasnation.com, and consider signing up for his weekly messages. I have also read two of his books, Midas Managers and Midas Marketing, published in 2007 and 2009, respectively. While I enjoyed both, I would suggest reading Midas Marketing first. It provides numerous ideas about marketing in our current global economy which can be implemented by most business owners. I believe the time is now to start managing businesses differently. I plan to share some ideas with my clients to begin the discussions on developing alternative strategies. I doubt our economy will ever again be like it was prior to 2008. Things have changed and business owners must change strategies and tactics to achieve their goals.
